SIR: I have the honor to report that the Eighth Regiment Connecticut Volunteers, Colonel Harland, with over 1,000 men, rank and file,«37 R R--SERIES III, VOL I» <ar122_578> sailed this afternoon for Staten Island, their destiny having been given by General A. E. Burnside, to whom the colonel will report.
